Currently trialling: PaperWM

https://github.com/paperwm/PaperWM/blob/develop/README.md

I started trying this based on Julia Evans' blog post. Like her I have liked using tiling window managers (I think I used wmii?), but disliked not having a proper desktop environment for all the other things.

Her quote sums it up:

"About 6 years ago I decided configuring my tiling window manager wasn’t fun for me any more"

The main thing PaperWM improves is that it is an extension to gnome, rather than a thing in and of itself. All the nice desktop things are still there.

Update 2020-06-27: I like most things, but I couldn't find a way to make it work with multiple monitor setups in a way that made sense to me. Not a huge loss for me, as I prefer to only deal with a single monitor at a time, but a little inconvenient.
